Ghana coach Charles Akonnor says Sudan were hungrier to succeed in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match than his team on Tuesday afternoon in Omdurman.
The Black Stars fell to a shock 1-0 defeat to Falcons of Jediane after conceding a goal in the 92nd minute.
The result means that Ghana will have to wait to qualify for the tournament having started the day knowing a draw would see them progress.
Speaking after the match, Akonnor said conditions were not favourable for his side but admitted they were second best at the Al Hilal stadium.
“The players fought under uncomfortable conditions like the weather and the Sudanese tried to frustrate us before the game and I appreciate the players’ effort.
“The Sudanese players were hungrier than us. We will learn from the mistakes we did today and we’ll do well against South Africa and São Tomé and qualify,” Akonnor said.

Ghana stay on nine points in Group C level with South Africa as Sudan move to six points with all three still looking for a place at the finals.
The other team in the group are Sao Tome, who are yet to win a single point after their 4-2 loss to South Africa on Monday.
Ghana need to avoid defeat in remaining games against South Africa (away) and Sao Tome (home) to secure qualification to Afcon for ninth straight time.
